73K Crore Budget for Pune Metropolitan Region Proposed

Pune Metropolitan Region (PMR) is in a major upgrade mode. If the budget of 73K crore of draft development plan gets approved it would make a notable thump on the way its residents live and work.

Metropolitan commissioner and CEO PMRDA Suhas Diwase said the plan will bring a surge in liveability and makes sure that there is sustainable development and environmental resilience in the city.

Diwase further said there are five goals of the Development Plan.

  1. Convenient (mobility)
  2. Prudent (Economic & Employment Growth)
  3. Resillient (Environment)
  4. Efficient (Infrastructure)
  5. Self-Sufficient (Housing & Amenities)

Draft Development Details

The DP asserts the different towns will have a unique economic model created that will be self-sufficient. This will be contingent on Pune Municipal Corporation and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.

The Draft Plan also asserts there will be around 18 growth centres that will be connected to each other also with PMC and PCMC through the mass transit system.

The report states that GIS-based innovation will make use to set up the advancement plan.

Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) metro link project owned by Tata-Siemens JV will start the work which costs around ₹6,124-crores which will be followed by international exhibition centre.

PMRDA’s first mode town planning project is Mahalunge-Maan which will be a digital city crossing more than 250 sections of land.
