A new Spy image has now leaked the technical specifications across the internet revealing what the CNG variant would be.
The subcompact SUV will feature the same 1.5-liter K15 naturally aspirated petrol engine. This is the same engine that other Maruti variants like Ciaz, S-Cross, XL-6, and Ertiga run.
In CNG specification power output will be a bit lower at 91 bhp at 600rpm and 122 Nm. It will either be a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 4-speed torque converter.

CNG Future in Indian Automobile Market
Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Director of Maruti Suzuki had said in an interview with Times Drive that many car makers in India have introduced EV vehicles to exemplify cleaner technologies, but the number of sales is low while diesel vehicles still rack up a substantial chunk of sales.
He further said it is important to look at cleaner fuels like CNG as long as EV cost doesn’t come down. This is the reason why Maruti Suzuki is investing more in the CNG segment instead of EV vehicles.
According to Srivastava Maruti has sold 1,58,000 CNG cars in India last year as opposed to 1,06,000 CNG cars in 2019 in spite of low sales in India.
Maruti Suzuki currently has more than 5 CNG variants in its passenger vehicles and aspires to have more CNG variants in near future.
Current CNG Variants:
- Maruti Suzuki Alto 800
- Maruti Suzuki Alto K10
- Maruti Suzuki Wagon R
- Maruti Suzuki Celerio
- Maruti Suzuki Ertiga
- Maruti Suzuki S-Presso
- Maruti Suzuki Eeco
- Maruti Suzuki Dzire Tour
Shashank further said India currently has over 3,500 CNG stations in over 300 cities of the country this has attracted people towards the CNG segment instead of diesel and prosaic petrol vehicles.
The share of diesel cars in the Hatchback segment was less than 0.2% last year and sedans were around 6%.
Indian automotive market has varied options for Indian buyers in different car variants.
