5G launch date in India is yet to confirm but the spectrum auction has successfully concluded.

The largest spender company in the first ever 5G spectrum auction emerged is Jio. It furcates out almost twice as much as Airtel and bagging half of all the airwaves, including 7000Mhz.

Airtel was much charier than Jio. Vodafone spent ₹18,799 Crore for 6,228 MHz of spectrum.

The spectrum is likely to be allotted to the telcos starting this month which will be followed by the 5G services rollout.

Post launch of the 5G services in India it will be limited to a few cities. After a period, citizens can expect the 5G network country-wide.

What is 5G?

5G, a new wireless network protocol, is the successor to 4G, which is presently used on most cell phones.

Fifth-generation wireless (5G) technology is a next-generation cellular technology that promises to significantly enhance the speed and responsiveness of wireless networks.

Data sent over wireless broadband connections may be transferred at multigigabit speeds, with some estimates placing peak speeds at 20 gigabits per second (Gbps).

Because wireless broadband connections offer bitrates as high as 20 gigabits per second, real-time applications can make use of the low latency achieved with 5G antennas.

More data will be sent over wireless networks thanks to expanded bandwidth and improved antenna technology.

The advantages of the fifth-generation network include higher multi-Gbps speeds, lower latency, and greater reliability in comparison to previous-generation mobile networks.

Among other things, the network provides AR/VR, AI, and broadband applications to users.

Countries like the United States, South Korea, Europe, and China have already deployed 5G networks.

When will 5G launch in India?

The 5G spectrum has come to end and now the spectrum would be allotted to the bidders.

A tentative date as per government reports says the spectrum would be allocated by 10th August.

Ashwini Vaishnav Union Minister for IT said, 5G services will soon be available for users by the month of October 2022.

Reliance Jio Infocomm, chairman Mr. Akash Ambani earlier this week said they will celebrate ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ with Pan India 5G rollout.

Airtel also claimed to be the first telecom operator to launch a 5G network in India.

Airtel has tied up agreements as network partners with Ericsson, Nokia, and Samsung to deliver the 5G services in the country.

Department of Telecommunication (DoT) has confirmed in a press statement that 5G services will be available in 13 cities across the country in 2022.

The cities include…

1.     Delhi

2.     Gurugram

3.     Bengaluru

4.     Kolkata

5.     Chandigarh

6.     Jamnagar

7.     Ahmedabad

8.     Chennai

9.     Hyderabad

10. Lucknow

11. Pune

12. Gandhinagar

Airtel 5G Plans:

5G service plans haven’t been revealed by Airtel yet. Airtel is expecting to launch plans similar to 4G plans.

Even the IT minister recently stated that 5G data tariffs will be lower than the average cost of the same in global markets.

Airtel last year conducted the 5G trails in Mumbai and Gurugram and achieved a maximum speed of 1,000 Mbps.

Airtel has confirmed that real-world speed of 5G would be around between 200 Mbps to 300 Mbps.

Jio 5G plans

Akash Ambani new chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm has said recently that Jio is staunch to offer world-class, affordable 5G and 5G-enabled services.

Jio will provide platforms, solutions, and services that will accelerate India’s digital revolution, especially in pivotal sectors like education, manufacturing, healthcare, agriculture, and e-governance.

According to company reports Jio is full ready to float 5G services in the dwarf period of time because of its nationwide fibre presence, and all IP networks with no legacy infrastructure.

Jio’s 5G network will enable the next generation of digital solutions that will hasten India’s AI-driven march towards becoming a $5 trillion economy Jio said.

During the trial and testing period, Jio 5G has managed to knock a speed of over 1Gbps using the indigenous technology.

You won’t require a Jio 5G SIM if you already have a Jio 4G SIM; 5G services will be available for use once the network is active.

You will, however, only be able to utilize 5G on a compatible device with an active Jio 5G plan.
