IPL 2024 Season: The 17th season of Indian Premier League 2024 is set to begin on March 22 and the entire season will be hosted in India despite the general election, IPL league chairman Arun Dhamal confirmed on Tuesday.

IPL chairman Arun Dhumal told PTI that they are about to fix March 22 as the start of the tournament. They working closely with government bureaus and will first release the initial schedule.

IPL 2024 schedule only for the first 15 days will be announced and the roster for the other schedule will be decided after the Lok Sabha elections dates are declared.

Economic Times had reported earlier that Lok Sabha dates will be revealed in the second week of March.

As per previous media reports, five days after the conclusion of the Women’s Premier League, IPL will start on March 22.

The report also stated that IPL 2024 may run till May 26, prior to just five days for the Indian cricket team to prepare for the ICC T20 World Cup that is starting from June 2 in the US and the Caribbean.

IPL this season will conflict with the Lok Sabha elections that are tentative to be held in the month of April to May. In the past, IPL had to move matches offshore as it conflicted with general elections.

IPL has attained decacorn status, observing a remarkable 28% rise in its combined brand value to reach $10.7 billion as reported by Brand Finance.

The overall brand value of the IPL league has experienced an impressive 433% surge since its commencement in 2008.

IPL chairman Arun Dhumal cited earlier that IPL’s media rights value may reach an astounding $50 billion in the next 20 years.

The IPL opener will follow the ritual of being played between last year’s finalists Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans.

IPL Auction for the 2024 season took place in December last year. Mitchell Starc the Australian pacer became the most expensive player in IPL history with the highest bid placed and bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs. 24.75 crores.
