Mumbai-Ahmedabad Rail Corridor popularly known as the bullet train traverse by Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli successfully acquired 100% of land as announced by National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited.
In the latest update on the land acquisition, 13849.49 hectares needed for the project have been acquired as announced by Railway Minister Mr. Ashwini Vaishnaw.
Japan’s Shinkansen technology is involved in the high-speed rail line which connects Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
Grider Launching
All civil contracts for the project in Gujarat and Maharashtra have been sanctioned according to NHSRCL and along with it 120.4 km of girders have been kicked off and 271 km of pier casting has been completed.
The project involves the first use of the J-slab ballastless track system in India with the laying of the first toughened concrete track bed initiated in Surat and Anand.
First Mountain Tunnel
The first mountain tunnel measuring 350 meters in length and 12.6 meters in diameter, a significant breakthrough of completion was achieved near Zaroli village Gujarat’s Valsad district within 10 months.
First Steel Bridge
The first steel bridge, spanning 70 meters and weighing 673 MT, across NH 53 in Surat is built as reported by NHSRCL. Out of 28, sixteen bridges are in the stage of construction.
Bridges have been built above six rivers successfully on the corridor and other bridges are under process.
India’s First 7 km Undersea Rail Tunnel
The Mumbai-Ahmedabad project includes a 21 km long tunnel between Bandra Kurla Complex and Shilphata in Maharashtra which also includes India’s first 7 km undersea rail tunnel under it.
High-Speed Rail Stations
Under the bullet train project, some high-speed rail stations are also under construction in cities like Vapi, Bharuch, Anand, Surat, Bilimora, Sabarmati, Vadodara, and Ahmedabad.
Walls are being constructed along the bridges to attenuate train and construction-generated noise during operations.
First Phase of the Bullet Train by 2026
The bullet train project is financed by the Japan International Cooperation Agency. The total loan amount sanctioned for this project is Rs 88,000 crore remaining 1.10 lakh crore project faced delay due to land acquisition issues.
The government is planning to run the first stage of the bullet train between Surat and Bilimora in south Gujarat by 2026.
