Mercedes-Benz India confirmed on 11th April that it will launch as many as three new three electric vehicles for the Indian automotive industry this year.

These Mercedes electric cars could be part of 12 launches planned for 2024.

As of now, Mercedes hasn’t revealed which EV models will be launched this year but the company hinted that it is looking at playing a lead role in the battery-powered luxury car segment.

Mercedes-Benz also revealed that in the last quarter that ended in March 2024, the OEM sold 5,412 units in India, marking a 15% YoY growth.

The luxurious automaker claimed that its last fiscal year was the best-ever financial year for Mercedes-Benz.

The company claims it has sold 18,123 units in India in the Financial year 2024, recording a 10% growth over the previous financial year.

Also, in March 2024 the company registered its highest-ever sales in India.

The company also revealed an interesting fact that 25% of its total cars sold in India were its top-end vehicles.

Mercedes Electric Mobility Technology

Mercedes is one of the top runners as far as innovation in electric mobility technology is concerned.

The automaker revealed it plans to introduce nine new models in the current year, including three new battery electric vehicles.

Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 4Matic & EQS 580 4Matic 2024

The EQE 500 4MATIC comes in the mid-size luxury segment, featuring a comfortable interior with 520 liters of boot space and nearly 17000 liters in total.

The EQE 500 SUV features 4MATIC all-wheel drive with 402 horsepower and a 0 to 100 km/h time of 4.9 seconds and also this SUV balances performances with utility.

The EQE 500 4MATIC offers a 90.6 kWh battery which enables fast charging and covers a range of 433 km.

This EQE 4MATIC+Sedan model balances AMG’s performance heritage with the benefits of electric mobility.

This Sedan Mercedes electric car also flaunts AMG-specific styling and chassis tuning to enhance driving dynamics without compromising the electric efficiency.

Mercedes-Benz EQB 350 4MATIC SUV 2024

The EQB 350 4MATIC SUV comes with an 89 kWh battery that covers a range of 356 km and delivers 288 horsepower.

Mercedes Benz takes U-turn, to Sell ICE vehicles beyond 2030

The German automaker revealed that by the end of this decade, Mercedes will only sell electric vehicles.

However, the carmaker recently held a yearly results conference that showed a completely different picture.

Slower economic growth, supply chain bottlenecks, and trade tensions between China and both the US and European Union also put pressure on Mercedes’s outlook for 2024 as claimed by the company, predicting lower returns on sales across its car and van division.

As the path forward appears bumpy ahead Mercedes-Benz has rolled back its plans for 50% of sales to be either electric or plug-in hybrid by 2025.

Mercedes CEO Ola Kallenius told investors at the annual conference held on February 22 “Artificially trying to hit the number by pushing the product into the market doesn’t make sense” He further said that even in Europe, Mercedes won’t achieve 100% EV sales by 2030.

Currently, only 11% of the cars Mercedes sells are fully electric, and if hybrids are included the count comes to around 19 to 21%.
