It is a big day for the electric two-wheelers in India because a Japanese manufacturer has finally joined in and it is not just any Japanese manufacturer it is Honda and they have not come up with just one but they have got two new electric scooters. One has a removable swappable battery and the other one has a fixed battery.
We are going to take you through both of these scooters and tell you what they are all about and what you should be looking out for.
Honda Electric Activa Dimensions
Activa e adopts a similar design to the qc1. Activa e gets a full LED headlamp at the front which is quite a smart-looking modern thing and nice looking DRLs out there, and rounded body panels
It has 12-inch machine-cut alloy wheels on both ends. If you go for the Activa e you will get a 160mm disc brake at the front. Active e gets a sizable ground clearance of 171mm. It weighs around 120 kilos.
Focussing on the rear of the scooter, we can see the tail light which is extended out there is nice and wide, and gets an LED filament, which is a good modern-looking thing. Just above the tail light is the grab handle which is quite beneficial for the pillion. Activa e gets a quite large, flat, and spacious seat which gives a comfortable ride.

Honda Electric Activa Features
Activa e gets a new 7-in TFT display. There are two versions of the Activa e. The higher version gets a larger display and a whole bunch more connected features as Navigation and many other alerts. But there is a catch, this service will only be free for the first year of the delivery, and after which you will have to pay for it. It also gets a new switch gear to toggle between the options.
There is a hook in between the glove compartments at the front, wherein you can hang up your bags.
On the left, we get a USB Type-C charging port, where you can easily charge your mobile phones while riding the scooter, and a pocket under it where you can keep your device while it is charging.
Like most of the other Honda scooters, this new electric Activa e is equipped with a keyless system.
Activa e comes up with three different riding modes such as Economy, Standard, and Sport mode along with a Reverse Mode as well. Top speed will depend on the riding modes you have selected and of course the range of the scooter.
Honda Electric Activa Body
Activa e has a sleek design. The scooter comes up with two small glove compartments on either side at the front for storing your mobile, chargers or other small kinds of stuff.
There are switches which can be seen in other scooters as well, for toggling between high beam and low beam light, and below that we get a horn switch. Activa e gets an additional switch which is a ride mode selector.
A storage space under the seat is missing due to the swappable batteries which are placed there.
Battery
Activa e gets two swappable batteries of 1.5kwWh each, giving out a total capacity of 3kWh. These batteries are placed under the seat, because of which there is no storage space which you normally get in other scooters. Swapping the battery is quite simple. You just need to unlock the batteries, lift them out which weighs around 10.5 kilos, put them into the charging station, and put the fresh batteries back in there.
The major drawback here is that the rider cannot charge the batteries at home. Riders will have to rely on the Honda Charging Stations, which are soon going to be set up all over the city. According to Honda the range of the scooter will be up to 102kms in one charge.
Motor
Activa e is fitted with a permanent magnet direct drive motor which is superior to a hub motor, which gives an output power of 6kw and torque of 22nm.
The top speed riders will get is about 80 km per hour, which honestly for an electric scooter is more than enough, and this level of performance will be very much similar to Honda’s 110CC and maybe even some of their 125CCs.
Warranty
The Honda Activa e comes with a 3-year warranty. It is either 3 years or 50,000kms, whichever comes first.
There is no question about the battery warranty, as the riders do not own the battery and it comes directly from the company. Honda will provide you with the batteries by paying them a subscription amount.
The prices for the Activa e have not yet been announced but are expected to be announced in January 2025. Bookings will also open in January and Honda tells us that the deliveries will begin in the month of February. Do let us know about its looks and features in the comments below.
