Chennai Super Kings pacer Deepak Chahar has made a huge statement about the MS Dhoni cricket carrier in Indian Premier League 2024.
There are rumors around that former team India captain MS Dhoni may retire after the IPL 2024 after leading CSK to a record-equaling fifth title.
Deepak Chahar on MS Dhoni
Many expected that MS Dhoni would hang his boots after IPL 2024, but the right-arm pacer Deepak Chahar has confronted that his CSK captain can still play 2 to 3 seasons more. Deepak Chahar said that MS Dhoni has recovered well from the knee injury that distressed him throughout IPL 2023 and is in a good state to play a few more IPL seasons.
MS Dhoni has given a lot to cricket. I have seen him bat in the nets. He is fit to play for another 2-3 IPL seasons. He had a knee injury, people at 24 have the same injury that he has,” Deepak Chahar told PTI news agency.
Deepak Chahar and MS Dhoni share a good rapport. In July 2023, MSD once talked about Deepak Chahar as a drug, he said “If Deepak is not there, you would think where is he – and if he is around you would think, why he is here”
Chahar also opened up about his relationship with MS Dhoni and remarked that both MSD and Deepak played PUBG a lot during lockdown.
MSD knee injury
Dhoni had a successful Knee surgery in June and underwent an extensive rehabilitation process. He aimed to be fully fit for the upcoming Indian Premier League 2024.
In the recovery process, MSD has been sedulous with his rehab and training sessions. Kashi Viswanathan, the CEO of CSK, expressed buoyancy about MSD’s progress, confirming that the former Indian captain had recovered well from the knee issues.
Chahar acknowledged that he owes his debut to the Indian cricket team in 2018 as he was backed by MSD’s support in IPL that year.
Chahar played only 5 matches across the 2016 and 2017 seasons but managed 10 wickets out of 12 matches which proved to be a turnaround season.
Deepak missed the tour of South Africa and the home series against Afghanistan due to individual reasons. Deepak is hoping to make a strong resurgence in the IPL and lock his place in the T20 World Cup squad.
