Alakh Pandey the man behind the successful YouTube channel Physics Wallah is currently making the big headlines in the country for his start-up to raise $100 Million.

Now for one more time, a college dropout has again done something creative that has become a top-level discussion in the start-up world.

Alakh Pandey is a third-year dropout student from his college where he discontinued education to achieve his Physics teaching dream.

The 22-year-old Pandey sir belongs to Prayagraj from UP. After quitting engineering in third year in Kanpur, Pandey sir came back to his hometown and joined the institute in Prayagraj to teach Physics.

His teaching skills were appreciated by the students and showed more interest, upon this the coaching institute advise him to start a YouTube channel and Pandey sir took his advice seriously and started the YouTube channel in 2014.

Alakh Pandey’s idea was to double the income. The first salary he was earning was ₹5,000 per month at coaching classes. He started taking classes when he was in 8th standard.

According to his statement, he used to get kick a different vibe to teach students and use to cycle a few kilometres to teach students.

There was a time when his cycle was stolen, and the new cycle was unaffordable to him.

Rise of YouTube Channel

In the initial years at the start of the YouTube channel, things were slow and at that time Pandey was still working with academic institutes.

In 2017 Pandey quit his coaching job to focus on his YouTube channel full time. Pandey sir says, in the beginning, his father was sceptical about the future of the YouTube channel but his mother supported him whole-heartedly.

Biding with his channel, by 2019 Pandy sir gained 2 million subscribers.

In 2020 world was hit by a coronavirus pandemic. Everything in the world went online and so the demand for Pandey sir’s channel grew.

In the same year, he partnered with Prateek Maheshwari and started the Physics Wallah app. He sold the courses at an affordable price of just ₹999.

Physics Wallah App has over 50 lakhs downloads on Android Play Store.

The power of Alakh Pandey’s teaching skills proved when the App was launched there were near about 2 lakh hits and the App was crashed.

This App helps NEET and JEE aspirants prepare for entrance exams.

Physics Wallah Horse Trading

The Physics Wallah channel just boomed on the internet. The channel managed to get close to 42 lakh subscribers. Daily active users were in mid-lakhs and the monthly active users had crossed the 13-lakh mark.

Now the channel popped out among EdTech rivals like Unacademy and Byju’s and here started the real games.

Unacademy offered a ₹75 Crore package annually to Alakh Pandey. But Pandey sir decided to stick to his start-up dream and rejected the offer.

According to FobesIndia.com, the process did not stop here, other tutors in the Physics Wallah academy started offering a huge package by rival EdTech companies.

Resignations started pouring in. Every other day teachers at Physics Wallah started to resign and accepted the rivalry’s huge package offers.

Students were worried as their star teachers started leaving one by one and as usual rumours spread about the end of Physics  Wallah.

Pandey sir left a no stone unturned and came out in some different role to save his boat himself.

Pandey sir donned in the avatar of Salman Khan’s character Chulbul Pandey and released a video for his competitors.

“Tum ek lekar jaoge, main 100 Alakh Pandey Khade Kar Dunga.”

This post got over 2.3 million views and his competitor’s got the message.

A few months later Pandey sir posted another video in Allu Arjun Pushpa style.

“PW nam sun kar paav wala samjha tha kya? Ye Physics Wallah he”

He further said “I am coming with more free and low-priced content.

Alakh Pandey’s start-up has 1900 employees on the roll. Five hundred (500) Teachers, Two hundred (200) Associate Professors, Two hundred (200) Subject Matter Experts and around one Hundred(100) Techies.

As per the company in India’s engineering college, 1 out of 10 are Physics Wallah alumnus.

There is a lot of scope in Indian Startups, only you need is a creative idea and the rest is what you know above.
